What kind of tools do you use? I, personally, use scissors, rotary cutter, straight edge and a cutting mat. I have screw drivers, hammers, pliers and a few other things -- I had them and then also got my Dad's - I even know how to use. Yesterday I brought, into the house, "power" tools -- so my son could do some "honey do" things for me. What tools do you use?
We are still facing our giants, 1 Samuel 17:39-40, where David is preparing to face Goliath. David saw a man who has defied the armies of the Living God" (v. 37) while others saw a very large "giant." Saul has agreed, and tried to help, David can take on Goliath. Verse 39 tells how David has even tried to use Saul's sword but takes the armor off. Verse 40 tells us he takes "his staff in hand, chose five smooth stones......and with his sling in his hand." What tools would you get? Each of us has gifts God has given us, ways we can face our own 'giants,' and ways we can help others to face their 'giants.' Each 'giant' requires different tools for the fight. Some 'giants' we can face one time, and move on -- maybe being more careful but moving on -- like changes caused by new babies, weddings and graduations. Some 'giants' we continue to face daily -- like cancer or other health issues, and/or being the primary care giver. We do, however, have the tools to face these issues. We have the gifts God has given to each of us, individually and as community, to feel and know God's presence with us AND the tools to fight the 'giant.' We need to look at, and know, what tools we have (hammer, screw drivers) and what tools we need to ask for (power tools) to face our own 'giant' and to help others face theirs. What tools do you use?
